A bar is de plek waar je geniet van ’s werelds beste dranken in een relaxte sfeer. A bar heeft de fijnste en exclusieve Nederlandse dranken verzameld en vormt daarmee de basis van het cocktailmenu. Deze lokale selectie is verrijkt met dranken van over de hele wereld.

De signatuur cocktails vind je nergens anders, ze zijn geïnspireerd op Amsterdam en zijn acht karakteristieke wijken. Uit elke wijk is een buurt gekozen ter inspiratie voor de cocktails. Maar A bar heeft ook vele andere opties om van te genieten, zoals excellente wijnen of lokale bieren, die perfect samen gaan met de heerlijke ‘food to share’ gerechten.

Enjoy the Amstel Martini with your choice of Ketel One Vodka or Dutch
Courage Gin. This classic Martini is served with A bar private label Vermouth, 2014 vintage Vermouth from the Saar Valley in Germany. This Vermouth has been made exclusively from Riesling grapes with a special selection of local flowers and herbs. We recommend that you drink this cocktail stirred in a Martini glass but our bar staff will gladly serve it any way you like.

The Manhattan is one of the most well-known cocktails. Classicly its made with American Rye whisky, sweet Vermouth and Angostura bitters. The Dutch Manhattan is made with Dutch Zuidam Rye Whisky, Willems Wermouth Amsterdam produced Vermouth and is enhanced with cherry liquor and our homemade bitters.

Our rendition of a classic drink originated in India somewhere in the 18th century. Its name derives from the Hindi word ‘’panch’’ meaning ‘’five’’ referring to the amount of ingredients used in the classic cocktail. These most commonly are: alcohol, water, tea, lemon and sugar. This is a fresh, modern adaptation to the classic.

One of the oldest parts of Amsterdam built in the 13th century. Known for its red lights and its prostitution. People travel from all over the world to visit this part of Amsterdam. This cocktail embodies the atmosphere in the Red Light District. Tempting and bittersweet.

Bols Barrel Aged, grapefruit cordial, lime juice, Pimento dram liquor, De Prael Tripel
The Headbutt, originally combining pilsner with young genever, is the Netherlands most authentic combination of beverages with genever dating back to 1650. Its name derives from being fairly potent. Instead of young genever we use 18 months barrel aged genever and we swap out the pilsner for a full bodied tripel from local brewery De Prael. The Pimento dram liquor adds a lovely complexity to the drink.

Situated on the North side of the IJ is the EYE Filmmuseum, one of the most iconic buildings in Amsterdam. Shaped in a modern way, the purpose of this building is to preserve the film heritage for future generations. The cocktail is a tribute to this building, preserving the classic flavours of a ‘’dark and stormy’’ and is presented in a modern way.

In the Southern part of central Amsterdam lies ‘’The Stillery’’, a company runned by two quality-driven guys. Their dinklewheat vodka is the result of six years of experimenting and perfecting their process of fermentation and distilling. The earthy character of the vodka is balanced out by the fruit flavours in this cocktail.

In the 1950’s the Overtoomse Veld was well known as an area where lots of gardening and farming companies were located. This part of Amsterdam was formerly known as the garden of Amsterdam because of the many herbs and fruits that were cultivated here. We’ve used the freshness of raspberries to balance the sweetness of the home made rosemary syrup. The Frangelico hazelnut liquor brings out the nutty flavours in the Old Simon genever.

The V.O.C. known as the Dutch East India trading company was the first transnational company who traded tea and spices from the far East, all the way to Amsterdam. In this cocktail we’ve combined the two, homemade Spiced Flying Dutchmen Rum and Pekoe Earl Grey Tea Liquor.

This cocktail honours one of the greatest football players of all times, Johan Cruijff. Raised in the Akkerstraat in Betondorp a stone’s throw away from the former Ajax stadium ‘’De Meer’’. We’ve used solely ingredients from the countries Johan Cruijff played in. Dutch gin, Spanish thyme and Peychaud bitters from the USA.

Traditionally the Fizz is a combination of alcohol, citrus and sparkling water. It is one of the oldest styles of cocktails. In the A-Bar Fizz light there is grapefruit and Lime for citrus taste, vanilla to subtle this cocktail with warming tones, mint as a fresh palate cleanser and the Fever-Tree soda to let it sparkle.
